Although it was only to Ponta D'ouro (Moz Lite).
Obviously with the Uprisings, I did A LOT of reading on daily events. I used the Drive Moz FB page.
Although there were so many (mainly Afrikaans) people who were such negative alarmists suffering from paranoia, that I eventually ignored their posts.
I even had one guy (Afrikaans obviously) texting me & rudely telling me I'm mad to go.
He was NOT happy when I told him I had a great holiday & was safely back in SA.
Obviously those cowards who cancelled had nothing nice to say to the thinkers who went.
Jealously really does make you nasty.
We left Parkview early on the 27th, stayed over in Pongola & then entered via Kosi Bay border early on the 28th.
We were 9 people, Roo in his Land Cruiser 79 D/Cab with his girlfriend, T & his 2 kids.
In Fearless was; Me, driving, Roo's brother, J & his wife Nicky. The Roo's elder daughter Em (25) & her English boyfriend Brad.
The other 4 in Fearless all flew in from Europe & the UK for the trip.
Fearless & the LC were heavily loaded - we took a LOT of food & drink.
We had booked a stunning house, Pool, lovely entertainment area, air cons in each room, an onsite house man (Magaia) & a maid (Matilda) who came in daily (including the 31st & 1st) to clean.
She arrived on her Quad bike - quite a hoot to see her arrive!
Most nights we took turns cooking, but we did eat out once or twice.
I sent Magaia to fetch Pao each morning.
Although we went to the beach most days & did a trip to Ponta Malogane - we spent a lot of time at the house chilling.
In fact, we only drove on the day we went to Malongane, the rest of the time we walked everywhere.
The uprisings had two effects on my trip:
1. The border & Ponta in general were quieter - although on the 31st & 1st the locals poured in, in droves.
2. By the 31st you could no longer get Dois M - Trucks from Maputo weren't arriving.
We saw no trouble of any sort, the locals were polite & friendly, the SAFFAS all behaved, it was very pleasant.
In fact, the ONLY negative was the heat & humidity.
Overall - a great trip!
