I went to this expo this morning. A lot of kit on display. Parking seemed well organised.

Well worth a visit.

What did you "buy" Andreas?

Absolutely nothing. I lie. A coffee, that's it.

But its nice to see some new stuff out there and also to compare the quality of some of the builds.

Offroad vans continue to be same same with very little innovation which is disappointing. Very slight differences between a myriad of manufacturers. Only thing that has changed is the price. Very expensive for what you get in my opinion.

Bushtech had a very nice tray back which was well thought out and looked top class quality wise. I would definitely look at them if i was in the market.

Custom Leisure Tech had some nice roof top tents, also exceptional quality.

Checked out a product called Gluetread which is deisigned to patch sidewall cuts. Might be worth adding to an overloading kit in case of emergency. Would not be a long term solution but could get you to camp or a bit further.

Thanks Andreas. Heading there tomorrow morning.
Will be exhibiting our trailers next year. Should think of a few new innovation ideas to add.
Have two new products releases this year.

This years Expo was well worth the visit. IF you wanted to compare off-road caravans and trailer to each other, this was the place to be! They really had most of the main manufacturers/importers there. Was very impressed with some local caravan/trailer manufacturers, and then utterly disappointed in other. Interestingly the ones that advertise the best had the worst manufactured items in most cases.

I still don't know exactly how and with what vehicle you would tow some of those rigs (hitting 3000kg) in real deep sand/mud, and they are built so wide that you would not maneuver it any place really remotely. But hey it is essential to have an aircon/DSTV/55"Flatscreen/3kW inverter/600W solar panels/private bar/2fridges/en-suite bathroom/hot water/3room awnings and a complete kitchenette when going to Gariep dam for the weekend...

I missed the market for, plain/simple/bush-proof caravans/trailers, affordable, in the sense that camping is worth it, and not just a status symbol anymore.

At the price of those rigs, I could go to tented camps or chalets for the rest of my natural life and still not get near to the amount.

I am checking out 2 Sleeper Off Road Caravans for some time now. Would have loved to go to the Show but taking time off now is a little difficult at this stage.

Christo, the only way to hunt for a trailer is to decide what features you consider your trailer must have. make a list and from there you can start eliminating trailers that don't have those features.
