SLEEPY TIGER

So after the Jimny Fest in Clarens
We had another event at Hartebeespoort driving the Meander

On the way back the Transfer case gave up.the Ghost
Woolf was with me in his Gen 3 Jimny
And Towed Tiny Tiger home

Done some home work and even if I replace the really Kapoet Suzuki Transfer case
Chanses it will strip the gears again was a given fact

So choices started

What Engine and Gearbox and TC options

2ct Turbo diesel Toyota
22R Toyota
4Y Toyota
3SGTE Turbo Toyota

I own enough fast toys so I wanted cheap and Reliable carburetor

Engine choice was Y4 due to cheap and good condition

Then obviously a Hilux gearbox with Hilux Transfer case

But 5 or 4 speed

Choice was 4 speed as the shorter gearbox help with propshaft angles and making conversion easiest

Ok.a tiny Hilux at the end of the day :D

Chris from Pta cote 88 done the work for me as he have built many in his lifetime
And Time I did not have at our shop to do the conversion

Now today drove it to Hennops to go test and see how the 4Y and Hilux TC perform against the Crawler gears in the Suzuki TC I had before

A fellow Jimny owner Derick made his way out and joined me

Always better not to be alone

So we done the top.section first

And at the Play area the front wheels fell in a ditch and gear lever came out of the socket but I managed to select Reverse
Switched on both cheating buttons and reversed out
And about 50m to a clear area out of the trail way to investigate the problem

Luckily had a dust coat and a yoga mat to lay on
And investigate to find the Gear lever hooked out the socket

My Tool assistant Renay assisted me and I removed the gear lever bracket to fit gearlever back
And off we go again.

Played a bit more in the Dongas.

Then around 11am stopped at the Lapa area

Made a fire and cooked some Prego meat and buns

Found another mate of mine at the Lapa comming to borrow a lighter to start his fire

After early lunch
We did the Hippo Pool
And Turned left up.Hill 49

Some large water erotions and steep

Took the red track and tried to go over the rut and diff lock pushed me to the left in to the tree as the back also slid in the Rutt

I backed a bit but turned steering to slow left to go out of the Rutt
But All slow motion.

Tiny Tiger πŸ… slowly went on its left side to Sleep

As we go over I was looking that Renays hands is not out the window to brace here self but she was holding on to 2 grab handels with both handels

I gripped the steering and kicked against the floor board
Not to Fall on here

On our sides
I ask if she was ok and said sit still hold on
Let me just get my feet out and out down that I could stand up and get out driver window

Then here turn and I managed to snap a pic

Very lucky no injuries

Derick and myself drove back to Lapa area to ask JP to assist us with his Vx and winch
And Ruan with his Jimny offers to help

Back at Sleepy Tiny Tiger I anchored the Jimny to the front of Tiny as when we pull him back on its wheels we don't have a vehicle running away You have seen those on Tic tic and YouTube

But before I got out I made sure I left Tiny in gear and Pulled the Handbrake up

Then JP positioned his Vx to the Driver side
And I attached his winch to a welded hook on my Rock slider
But due to no re enforcement it broke off very easy

I repositioned the Winch line around my Rock slider at mounting Point and 2nd try.

With no effort we winched Tiny back on his wheels

Very lucky with little damage
Back canopy window broken
Both left wheel arches damaged
And a dent in the Bonnet

Reversed back with all the oil that made itsway in the intake
I had a smoke ball but cleared quickly.

Picked up all the broken glass and stuff that fell out the window and cleared the area

And away we go to finish the trail

And Drive Tiny Tiger πŸ… home

I wil Edit the post later with some video links
Caught on Dericks dash cam

"Ehh s##t" *calmy gets out and walks up to see what is cracking* :D

Glad no one was hurt. That first bit of hill 49 is very loose gravel.

I've seen the video. Tiny tips over & this guy gets out & takes a slow leisurely walk to you.
You'd think, given the possibility of injuries, that he'd run up to see if you are OK!

Good to hear everyone is ok and damage is not too significant.

I’ve heard they now sell driving licenses at Pick n Pay. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Hi Pierre, sorry I could not make it. I am really sorry to see you fell on the side, I am extremely glad nobody got hurt. I broke a diff at our first event in March, and I am in the finals of getting The Jimny ready for the next event on the 1st June, its a tough course and doing my best is not an option.

Very glad that no one was injured in the roll-over. The damage doesn't look too severe. Did you shut the motor off or did it die on it's own?

Looks like that Suzuki thought it was a Fortuner and so it fell over.
