WHY? Meat is better and the same price there as far as I know? Unless of course you're not going anywhere near a town, which is curious considering even Oranjemund has a Spar and several butcheries............

As far as I know the same rules as for Botswana apply to Namibia ie. No meat. This is due to foot and mouth decease in SA.

Foot and mouth decease is serious isn't it ? A terminal illness, I believe...

The last I saw the banned list included fresh milk products and fresh produce.

And poultry. But perhaps our resident "Nambians" can provide a bit more clarity. These things often change.

Yes!
No Dairy products, no meat, and keep your smiley at home.
Pork is a big no no, as Andreas mentioned. Foot and Mouth is running rampant⦠almost as bad as the Saffers on our beaches.
Best Place to get meat coming from Noordoewer would be Keetmanshoop or Mariental (huge Spar on the outskirts)
Coming from Botswana, Iβd say Gobabis or Windhuk.
Beer is allowed though, although we make better beers here.

In fact, the Nambians still make beer, AB-Inbed-with-SAB make a fermented beverage that is sold as beer.

Thanks for the info.
We are going to Amanzi for a week. Closest town is Noordoewer. Aussenkehr is 50km further.
Iβve got a freezer full of fully paid for meat at my house and would have loved to have taken some of it with to save cost.
Looks like I will have to take a drive to go shopping then

Amanzi is lekker!
But I doubt you are going to find anything in Noordoewer.
Marais, the owner of Noordoewer Gueshouse and Amanzi, does a shopping run to Keetmanshoop. He used to go to Springbok, but with the meat restriction Keetmans is the best bet.
Iβll DM you his number, maybe he can go do some shopping for you.
