All my other power tools carry a cord that ends with a 3 pin plug :x
At least they end with a three pinned plug and not the round two pin one. Yes... I can replace the plugs on them, but just never get around to doing it and so I am always looking for the appropriate adaptors... :?

Edit: I just find it annoying that tools are sold with non za-spec plugs and I'm gatvol of looking for adapters for the corded tools as two-pin adaptors in a house with teenage girls are a scarce commodity...

I buy Ryobi. I suspect that it will die eventually, but my little Ryobi cordless drill was only R670 off the Interwebs and has put in hundreds of hours.

Yes, it can't drill big holes into masonry, so when I need to do heavy work, I grab the corded Ryobi that even my agricultural engineer couldn't break. I also have a corded Ryobi keyless chuck drill that has milled barley for the last 6 years.

If any Ryobi breaks, I toss it and go buy a new one, and I don't shed a tear.

Oh yes: Milwaukee and Ryobi are the same company.........

Metabo comes with 10Ah LI batteries. Have never had a cordless tool that can beat them on battery life.
You will never find me without Stroh or a 4x4 :D

I suspect Henri's Metabo has the old Ni-Cad batteries.
Li-On tends to last.
Try see if you can upgrade to Li-On Henri...

Firstly, they are not the same company - they are both owned by the same company.

Daihatsu & Lexus are the same company - but the quality is certainly not the same.

Read this, it is VERY interesting:

https://www.protoolreviews.com/power-to ... owns-them/

I see that, since 2017, Skil is mo longer part of Bosch.

Also interesting, Stanley, De Walt & Black & Decker - same group.

Finally, Hilti & Makita are the only two NOT part of a group.
No ones owns them & they don't own anyone else.

Thanks Manny

Makita not Metabo.

Anyways, next time. Maybe in two or what years.
Place that did them is in Benoni, part of an international group. The name escapes me now, they did not even offer. Maybe these 14.4v are not available in Li-On.

Some time ago I needed to get a battery drill urgently over a long weekend when most places are closed. At Leroy Merlin I got a Dexter one with battery and charger for a price that was about what other drills cost without any accessories. Dexter is their in house brand and has a 2 year exchange program if anything fails. It doesn't have a hammer function but it's electronic trigger and and two speeds work well.
I probably won't buy any other cordless tools they have because their range is very limited but their plug in tools are great value for money. I've got a few including their heat gun and hand held circular saw.
The next cordless tool I need to replace is a torque gun. I'll probably go with Ingco. It's good value for money and will only be used by myself.

I'm busy repacking an old 14.4v adendorff house brand cordless with Li-ion.

Here we have it, Ryobi Quoting R4 577 to fix a Mitre Saw I can buy new for R3 000

Just out of interest:
The Ryobi 255mm Mitre Saw is around R3 000
The equivalent Makita Saw is R7 200
A Cordless version of the Makita is R20 000

Hilti doesn't seem to list a Mitre Compound saw...

I had the battery cells made up by Electromann SA. 4 x cells in series giving 1.2Ah and 14.8vdc. Comes with a mini-BMS to avoid over charging and discharging. They even packaged them in a way that fits my old battery box. Cost me R340 including delivery.

https://www.electromannsa.com/pages/sea ... %20battery

All I need to do is solder the old battery box clips onto the new battery pack and screw it closed. On my to-do list for next week. The standard charger provides enough voltage for the BMS.

Thanks Jakes. I'll definitely follow up with them in the new year. Last quote I got for a similar repack here if over R1000.
