I also had the Up! as a run around and commuter. Struggled to fit 2 baby seats in the front of my single cab Isuzu at that stage and my wife did not appreciate me suggesting that one will have to ride in the back. Worked great as a commuter and was very light on fuel.
It was more expensive to service the 999cc UP! at VW than what is was to service my 2499cc KB at Isuzu.
Had the worst trade in of all cars I've ever owned. One of the main motivations for going VW was due to it's perceived 2nd hand value. What a lot of BS. My Discovery 3 held its value better than the Up!. Even my sisters Citroën C3 had better 2nd hand value than the Up!.
Some of my friends saw me driving the Up!. Main reason I had to immigrate to Australia

Here is Verdict from a comparative test between Kwid, Go! & Agya by Martin Pretorius.
Read the last line.
But the Agya’s safety package (and part-LED headlights) ultimately win out over the Datsun’s practical advantages. That it’s well-made and comes with Toyota’s reputation for reliability and value retention merely add extra spice to a surprisingly flavourful dish. Or you could just buy a lightly-used Suzuki Swift for the same outlay (or even less), and be done with it...

Mike, despite the stigma, better value for money, trade in, easy and cheap to service - just buy a polo vivo and be done with it.
Until recently I had the 1600 sedan, bought it in 2011 for 154k and sold it early this year for 90k with 187k km on it. The only issue I ever had was to replace the water pump and fan belt, something I did when I serviced it.
Other than that, grow some balls and buy yourself a Harley.

Mike really sounds more like a Mazda Miata (MX-5) kind of metrosexual...

Looking at Polo Vivo’s with less than 10k kms on them. There are a few 1.4’s around for sub R150KRicof4e wrote: ↑Tue Dec 06, 2022 7:03 amMike, despite the stigma, better value for money, trade in, easy and cheap to service - just buy a polo vivo and be done with it.

Yes, Polo, most stolen vehicle in SA, even more than the Fortuner.
But obviously, not being a complete twat, you drew up your short list:
FagKwid
Agya
Ignis
Swift
Polo
And called your broker and asked for insurance quotes on each.
Ne'?

Of the top 5 towns or cities for vehicle theft, 2 are in Gauteng (where most of South Africas vehicles worth stealing can be found) and 3 are in the Western Cape.
