RGM Motorsport - what a mess!

Warning: It is an unnecessarily long (40mins), a mindlessly long ramble, badly structured, repetitive, poorly shot (he stands in a noisy busy street FFS!), ill-conceived, irritating rant.
He could easily have made his point in 12 minutes - why he stood there to make the video I doubt even he knows.

Basically, Rob Green gave half his company to his brother Steven, Rob alleges that Steven was ripping him off.

I know of a guy who had his FJ Supercharged.
It was apparently a disaster.
He took it back numeros times.
He told me that in total they had fitted 64 injectors to that V6.
He alleged that after he complained all over social media RGM sent him a lawyer's letter telling him to stop airing how badly the job had gone.
Seems RGM has a lot in kommin with a certain specialist off road insurer.
Use lawyers to try keep your name out the gutter.
Anyhoo, they eventually got it right.
But all in all the vehicle was with RGM for many, many weeks from start to finish.
Allegedly.
According to what he told me.

If you use a one man multi-discipline, multi-brand business to do high tech work on you vehicle, you'll probably use a Contractor who advertises on a hand written poster tied to a street sign...

The problem really is that the day of the really knowledgeable automotive fabrication house is gone.
There used to be a dozen really excellent racing/mod workshops : old Basil Green, van der Linde, Lammers, etc
Now all the guys are fitment specialists with no real idea of best practice.

Jakes what you said is so true.
I've had heads modified by Van der Linde to the exact specifications I requested. Very few people can do what they do on a commercial scale. Years ago Richi Jute was the only guy to go to for cams. When you ask some of these "bolt on" specialists about changing the lift, duration and timing of the lobes on a cam they can only pull out a catalog of off the shelf options that are almost all imported. If you got to an engine builder and he doesn't have a stock of blue, red and green plasti gauge, plus a selection of different size torque wrenches, walk away.
There are still some guys that really know what they are doing in this field but you will pay top dollar and go onto a waiting list. These bolt on specialists are all over the place making wild claims of huge power and torque gains but they don't understand the basics of performance tuning.

I agree with Jake's and Paul.
But I'd like to add that the problem is that, 30 years ago engines were simple and under stressed - it was easy to get more out of them.
The Ford Escort 1600 Sport put out 62kW and 125Nm.
That's nothing by today's standards.
That's when the Basil Greens and Van Der Linde's cut their teeth.
Modern motors are far more complex and in standard form, are much closer to the maximum outputs that can easily be achieved (except Toyotas which are still under stressed and therefore reliable).
So to set up a workshop in the East Ront and start using boost to exact more power requires an enormous amount of research and skill, that these guys often dont have...
For example, when SAC in Kyalami started out they made their mark by fitting an intercooler to the Isuzu KB280TD and getting better figures.
When Isuzu themselves fettled that motor they increased bore and stroke to raise it to 3.0 litres then intercooler it.
Yet they still tuned it to put out less than SAC claims they got.
BUT! Isuzu went further, they fitted the gearbox and Diff from the KB320 V6.
For two reasons;
Better gearing for the new outputs. Because the KB280 Box and Diff couldnt handle the torque.
That's the difference between OEM R&D and cowboys producing impressive Dyno graphs...

A real pity that things came down to this. Difficult to comment with only part of the story...
However, I can just imagine how gatvol one must be to be driven to a point to make a video like this!

To make a supercharged or turbo engine last you need to strip it down and build it to those specs. Non turbo engines use different piston clearances than turbo engines. I won`t do any bolt-on turbo or supercharger conversion on any of my engines.
Most of the 1Gr(FJ Cruiser, V6 Hilux and V6 Cruiser) engines with bolt-on chargers does not see 40k km after fitment.
But I have gave up on performance, tyre pressure, tyre brand and gravel travel threads.
