Imported Tires

#1

Post by Martin de Jager »

This is going to be a hot topic:
WE received a notification that pending current stock, Supa Quick have sent a warning to all clients of a pending 38.8% anti dumping Levi on all imported tires, SARS have so far denied this.
However I have it on good authority that Trentyre will close all its branches. More franchises will follow.
Keep in mind very few brands still produce locally, its normally the common tires.
Imagine brands such as BF;s, Cooper , Maxxis and others going up in price by more than 40%. Dunlop SA have closed local operations long ago, Bridgestone only produces in Brits, and have downsized, closed the factory in Barbara road, PE is downsizing. All importers are bound to be affected.
Imagine how it will affect the illegal market, re-grooving and so forth.

The tax increase by the the International Trade Administration Commission (ITAC) is true and is coming into effect soon. Another way for the pigs to get more at the trough.
