Cat litter sand.
Clay. Not silica.

My old Snomaster had an incident involving some steaks, and a distinct shortage of electricity. A good scrub with lots bleach, diluted in a little water (a good few glugs of bleach in about a litre of water), followed by rinsing, and as bowl of bicard, left in it for a couple of weeks, sorted it out.

Many years ago, we had an abortive attempt at ostrich farming.
This is while I was working in the ME.
Some of the hatched chicks had to be put down (too much feed and their legs went weird and then you can't fix the problem).
So SWAMBO reckons she wants to learn taxidermy. She tells the farm worker to put the carcasses in the fridge.......

a month later, I come home for a quick R&R and he says to me "Boss, the fridge is now stinking too much..........."

Sprayed on a Bleach solution every day for a month, and exposed the item to sunlight (as in UV outside type sunlight, not the soap.....)

We still have the fridge.
