Manny Soek 'n Maaitjie
On Saturday I'm attending a 4x4 Family Fun Day in Alberton.
I discovered tonight it will be in the format of gymkhana fun 4x4 challenge.
You'll do obstacles, but also have to challenges like:
* Shoot an arrow
* Spot hidden items.
* Answer quiz questions etc.
I'm told it's advisable to have a Navi.
I was planning on enjoying the day in solitude - but so much for that!
So if anyone is keen to be my Navi - letme know.
You'd either have to get to my place by 07:00 Saturday morning or...
I need to fetch you en route - but you'd need to live near me or on the route from Honeydew to Roodepoort.
Also, if anyone wants to actually participate (instead of Navi) - pull in.
But bring yourself a Navi...

So who are you torturing Manny? GFYS is a great conversation starter at any 'Family Fun Day' event, always start your sentences with that when meeting new family member...

Peet, ordinarily your post would be a good one making a great point, sarcastically.
However....
You forgot one thing...
I dont give a rats arse.
Some Karen once asked me, angrily "Where did you learn to be so offensive?".
Learn?
Learn?
Is she nuts?
This is not something you LEARN, it's a GIFT....

Herewith my report on the Alberton Family 4x4 Fun Day at Meyer Plaas:
The day was arranged by (I think) 4xd4 Sport & the NG Kerk Alberton, I think Mitsu-Tech & Ironman were the sponsors.
The event has been held every year since 1990 - so it's 32 years old.
Last night Pierre Bugger Xteen called me saying he'd join me with Tiny Tiger.
He actually drove Tiny there - no mean feat; Tiger has a max speed of 80kmph due to it's ultra low gearing.
Joos Vorster has attended the event many times before & gave me the low down - so I knew what to expect.
I collected my Navi, SueAnne & headed through to Mayer Plaas Alberton.
Entry was a bit chaotic as it was based on the 'Home Affairs' model - but we came right.
I had to laugh, the form you complete asked for your postal addres!.
Are they going to post stuff?
I then pushed in, moving from about 12th in the queue to 3rd by driving over the bunting tape.
We were handed a questionnaire with about 50 questions & a 'map' with 50 odd blocks & on the blocks (map sketch) were numbers relating to the questions.
Question 1 was who is the Owner of Mitsu Tech? -i'ts Arnold Venter.
Question 2 was what is hanging in the tree? - it was a solenoid.
Another question - what has 44 squares - it was a gate.
So you drive along following the map block by block & look for the answers to the questions.
BTW: All questions are in Afrikaans.
We did the route, it had a new semi challenging sections.
There were 2 places where the road split & you could choose: Manne or Muise - we chose Manne both times & those section were a bit difficult.
I'd rate the whole course a grade 3 (max).
We finished around 12:00 (just over 3 hours), I was the first to finish because others stopped for lunch - it was a VERY relaxed day.,
SueAnne & I found out that we got 18 Questions wrong - (64% score).
Bugger left shortly after we finished as he has another engagement, SueAnne & I stayed to watch some guys in non-road legal rigs bash about in a mud hole.
They then said the prize giving would only be at 15:30 - so we said goodbye & headed home.
Overall a very nice, different, well organised day. We enjoyed it...
