Interesting. After 10 years, 200,000kms and roughly 30,000kms of driving an ungraded servitude plaaspad at speed, our Wrangler shocks are still original and working well.

But when it becomes time, I will investigate Bilstein.

Maybe worth a distinct thread : "What shock and why?"

So I managed to find the offending rubber that failed. I suspect that the top nut might have been over tightened thus causing the fail.

Darrel sent me a full kit, free of charge, to replace all 8.....

They might (or might not) be expensive - but I appreciate the gesture!ImageImage

As a side note - the offending rubber referred to above isn't the one that broke when Manny was concieved.....

Last week Thursday (25th August) I decided I need to drop the D-Teq off so Mikem can do the:
* Tie Rod Ends
* Front Wheel Bearings
* Rear Suspension Rubbers.

I chatted to Andreas& he mentioned he wouldn't mind visiting Mikem to get his suspension checked.

So the plan was:
* We'd meet at Mikem at 10;30 Friday morning
* They'd check Andreas' suspension.
* We'd go for an early lunch and...
* Andreas could then drop me @ home.

We'll, we only got out of Mikem after 13:00.

I'll let Andreas tell you the story. Suffice it to say he is happy with how his Patrol now rides...

I collected my D-Teq today.
The work listed below was all done...
* Tie Rod Ends
* Front Wheel Bearings
* Rear Suspension Rubbers.

The shocks were also replaced, due to mix up, the wrong shocks arrived.
So Darrell fitted Bilsteins to my work bakkie. :shock:
I must say the bakkie is MUCH better, the jitteryness & losgattighied is all gone.
But, as an added bonus, with the Bilsteins, I glide over speed bumps like a sedan.
Pricing was also very reasonable.
Bakkie is better than ever ito ride & stability.

Andreas had his front shocks fitted.
He is now running Terrain Tamer extra 500kg load coils & Bilstein shocks all round.
They also sent it to get his alignment sorted.
I look forward to his feedback.

I am going away this weekend when I will be loading a bit of stuff so will give proper feedback next week.

A big thank you to Mikem for their assistance at a very reasonable cost.

Do not deal with Mikem remotely.
Darrell has ADHD in extreme.

I call to check he is in, then I physically go there.
Then you get world class service.
Deal with Darrrell face to face.
It's the only way.

But over the phone or via e-mail you will struggle...
