What the EFF is going on with Ford SA?

For interest's sake I drove past our local Auas dealer (Suzuki, Isuzu & Opel), Toyota dealers (2), Ford Dealers (2), Nissan dealer (GWM & Nissan) and VW dealer yesterday.

Apart from 2nd hand stock, none of them had any vehicle in the same class as the Starlet on floor. There was one Brezza and one T-Roc at Auas and VW respectively and Toyota had one Corolla sedan, but that's it - the rest are full blown SUVs or bakkies.

Ranger

The fully imported Mustang

The Everest & Ecosport will not be replaced.

So basically, in terms of offerings to the general public, they'll only sell the Ranger range.

But I really cannot see them dropping the new Everest... Would make sense to sell out current stock, but with such a huge dealer network that they will need to keep supplied different variant vehicles, it just wont make sense... But hey, anything is possible these days

Manoel, I am glad Ford is withdrawing from the cross-over market in SA.

Crossovers are better left to those who have a "softer" client database like Toyota and VW.

I think we're starting to see what the pending focus on EV will do to the small ICE vehicle market.............

Mike, I had discussion with two Ford representatives, the new Ford Ranger , Everest models produced in SA all gets exported. The models sold in SA gets produced in Thailand. The small Ecoboost are being discontinued.
The plant actually belongs to Ford USA. So the Dollar weighs higher than other currencies.
