… even the 2.8i would be too perky
for my sedate retirement …

If I ever put another motor in the 130,
it’ll be a 300 Tdi …
A 300TDi with a decent exhaust and a variable vane turbo and pump tweaks could be very close to kicking a TD5's backside.

Get some reconditioned injectors.

Friend of mine has a Ford Ranger with the same motor. Cost him R3k. Ford is purring.

On Pajeros with manual gearboxes, guys do away with the dual mass flywheel and convert to conventional clutch.

Not sure if this can be done on the Mazda, but worth exploring.

I'm confused. What same motor? Do you mean the Mazda 2.5 TD? In which case, yes, the WL-T25 was actually a Mazda engine used by Ford when they had the agreement.

Part code is 105078-0111. Between R1k and R2,5k each depending on where you buy on eBay...........

Ford Ranger and Mazda of that year have the same 2.5 diesel motor?

New DMR on a TD5 is quite a big ticket item,
but Mine was skimmed and balanced etc
… over 5 years ago now … been fine.

Saw LR guys today who say Td5 injectors
are now available here and R6k each
… so R30/set.

@BushWacker : I fail to see why a TD5 would need injectors at less than 150,000kms, unless you source crap diesel and don't have a pre-filter water trap and sediment trap..............

https://www.rockauto.com/

Then make use of Aramex Global Shopper (https://www.aramexglobalshopper.com/en/home). Although I think these days Rock Auto can ship directly to SA

Depending on the HS Code used it will either be 0% or 20% import duties.

Definitely not the first option for parts but an alternative if you really get stuck with sourcing in SA

Agree

My rig is 20yrs old and at ~ 350k, so not even 1/2 life.

Had 1 defective injector replaced at about 250k,
… nothing else in the motor,
… or turbo …

Precautionary/pre-emptive change
of fuel Pressure reg. & water pump.

Henri we did that with the first one.

For normal driving it's ok - ish.

But as soon as we load the fire fighter or drive in loose soil you smell the clutch....

Ok so just so me feedback....

We recieved a tip that Kroonstad Ford has a tendency to be cheaper than Welkom Ford....

So just for shits & giggles I phoned them to compare prices on the SAME injectors.

Welkom - R66k
Kroonstad - R42k

These are the same (yellow marked) injectors!

Can't believe the 24k price difference between 2 dealerships 60km apart!

Anyhow, she has dropped them off at a reputable shop to have them serviced/repaired.
