Fantastic idea for a camping spot

#1

Post by Mike Nel »

Hear me out.

Wherever we go and whenever we go camping, doesn't matter if it's far or close, shitty gravel to get there or tar. There is always some (enter own superlative here) playing his shitty music till late. Especially the first night. We call it arrivals anxiety. They can't read because they normally miss the big signage when you enter the campsite that states NO Music.

So my idea for a camp spot is as follows.

You can come and camp and make as much noise as you want, whenever you want, for as long as you want.

Now before you think this is a crappy idea, I believe that those noisy bastards won't go to such a campsite anyways, which leaves it for my friends and I to enjoy in peace and quiet.

One can always just go and camp at Mabalingwe. Most campers there make as much noise as the want. Sort of stands to reason considering the pub at the Kalahari Oasis even has a Toyotaholics-branded fridge...

Mike, although your idea is novel, it won't work. The guys not wanting to go to no-music campsites (who are 10 times worse than the muppets you describe) will spoil your peace and tranquility.

You can approach music playing campers in 2 ways:

1) You confront them and then management; or

2) Join them. But don't just join them, go full out Mickey on them. The art is to casually join the party, take in a beer or two, and with the third beer you take off your shirt. By the sixth beer you should just be in your undies. Then start giving drunk hugs. And piss close to (or next to) the fire - there is always a fire. By the 10th beer you should be doing the leeu-loop as it was intended.

Hell, if you can manage 12 beers, ask some of them to sniff your finger too.

Matamba Camsite just past Vaalwater has a rule.
No music. Ever. And the sites are 100m apart.
Play it and you will be told to leave.
But that is unfortunately only one campsite I know of.

I've never had a problem with other campers behaviour - but then I generally dont camp where the Holics, Kakavanians & other riff raff camp.

I prefer places that have a bad access road with no power,.
Really liked Lekwena that Ian (twee drie, een) recommended. No power and a bad road...

I was at Lekwena recently. That place is awesome.

On the "Ian, twee, drie" thing. The last time I heard that joke, I laughed so hard I fell off my T-Rex... :)
