Dirk-Heads on the road

#1

Post by iandvl »

I would have spelled the title differently, but I was not sure about censorship and stuff. Should bring the point across though.... I have a bee in my bonnet about stuff. I have been spending quite a lot of time on the roads. Because I am sort of always between places all the time. And I am upset.

Pet peeves for me are:

1: Flickers. The idiots with emergency flashers on. Fine if you stop next to the road, but please first indicate which way you are pulling off to. These days, every man and his dog slam on brakes in the middle of the road. But it is fine - they have their flickers on. I would shoot them all.

2: Tailgaters. I had the unpleasant experience twice today. Between Pta and Brits. This morning, a branded bakkie travelling so far up my vehicle's derriere I could barely see his roof in my rearview over the fridge in the boot. Again this afternoon, a silver ranger with some uber cool oom wearing his check-me-check-you shades. In both occasions, I was passing slower traffic and had vehicles in front. I was going as fast as I could... The latter (ie: the man with no eyes) was uber pissed off with me for clapping hands at him when I could move over and he did get past. Yay. Turd++

3: Njammie mammies / Karens. The white Prado and Fortuner crowd. The most self-entitled people on the planet during the schoolrun.

4: 4-way stop idiots. Wait you turn. Why is your time more important than mine ?

The flicker-brigade. When those two orange lights start flashing, you can do no wrong. I often fantasize fitting a massive bullbar and nudging them to the side (where it is safer of course).

With regards to bumber humpers, get yourself a sticker: I hope your insurance is as good as my brakes.

I have a sticker. It reads: GFYS.

It's totally acceptable to say words like Dick Heads, Cockwombles and Wankers on this Forum...

But we prefer the use of the term Indicator rather than Flicker...

I hear that, Manny....

But indicator is one side. Ie: indicating where they are turning. I guess the ZA term will be 'hazard lights' or 'emergency flashers'.

And that is only 1 of 4 points....

Tail gaters I just luuuuv!

Cruise control on until he sits on my arse. Cruise control off and I slowly reduce speed. When I am passed I take longer to decide to move over. The move over is done as slowly as possible, just enough to let him know he does not need to wildly swing to the left to pass me.
And then I totally ignore his reaction when he passes.

Lekkkerrr!

People that follow me when I speed (distance of less than 100m but just enough to notice that they are following you) to enjoy the speeding but that I alone get caught by the Po-Leash…. I just hit the brakes, let them pass then I rear end them to piss them off…

Of course I do not do this to people with Mallets, 4-pipe roll bars and people with stickers mentioning the words “vatikaki”

Ok now for my little rant....

It's ironic how us palefaces complain the loudest and longest about potholes and the condition of our roads - yet are the bigest dickheads/arseholes when it comes to slowing down where the roads are being fixed....

We were filling potholes again today - and if a sumbitch comes charging past - 9/10 it's a paleface!

Never mind all the flags, flag holders and cones to warn road users that we (private citizens) are trying to make it a little safer for all.

They were probably trying to get home before it gets dark - the tale of the SFA with Godlights have struck fear in their souls.

I live in the free state.

We are so behind that the sun only sets at 7pm....

But yes, had they fitted decent spots they could have fried us in passing

I had the unfortunate privilege of the school run this morning.

Well. Rangers and the mommies in their appliances have no right at all to complain about the way taxis drive. None

It is illegal for private citizens to fix potholes unless so contracted by SANRAL or the local road agency.

Many things are illegal but I'll continue until they arrest me (again )

Our roads are just too bad and unsafe at the moment.
