Jimny or Duster. Which is the better small 4x4 to get into the Bush, drive to work and take the kids to school.

The Duster AWD will be lighter on fuel, faster, more spacious and better on the tarmac..
The Jimny can go off road...
Resale will be good on both, but the Jimny will be better.

Two door Jimny will drive you nuts carting kids to school. They are still young and need car seats so buckling them up in the back won't be easy. That would be the deal breaker for me. Then again, buying any Renault would be a deal breaker for me!

Ja. The Renault bit is a worry for me too.
On the Suzuki side the school run is few and far between.
But is a concern with 3 kids seats.

Richard, are the two vehicles your only choices? can’t you rather set a budget and then people can give advice on new/second hand vehicles within your price range?

Richard, get a brand new Range Rover Vogue (big body), decent off-road and plenty space for your posse

Logically I should get a Toyota urban cruiser. I KNOW NOT 4X4.
I have seen Big body Range Rover Vogue 4.4lt Diesel for around R300k.
Looking for an economical off roader for under R300k and newer than 3 years.

Ja, these are really getting better so not a bad option. A real competitor to the Bentayga

Duster, they are good vehicles. Very very good. Not for very bad terrain but the can go places.
Jimny? It is actually a two man 4x4. Getting three kids strapped in is going to make you hate it. Not a family car at all. But one hell of a 4x4!

Yes it is. But no match for a Jimny. No low range but the 1st gear is very low. Like a 'donkie rat'.

Took the Kia Grand Sedona to the lion park today. Was first time on dirt in a few months. Sold the Golf 5 so now need a run around for work but thought it needs to be able to go off road a bit too.
