The Recovery Kit Home Alone

I usually take the recovery kit on every single trip I go. So packing for the West Coast trip with vehicles fully loaded I decided to leave the recovery kit at home to save space. Why would I need it on a normal camping trip?

About 60km from our camping spot we came across a Corolla that have run out of road and were stuck in soft sand. I always have a short sling in the Cruiser and two shackles that Manny gave me as a present. Christopher had a go with the 2.8 Hilux. With tyres at 2.2 to compensate for the load the Hilux just dug in.

In the end we had to use the winch on the Cruiser to get it out. Lost some valuable time with this operation.
If we had the recovery kit with us it would have been a quick pull with a long strap and the recovery vehicle on hard ground.

Lesson learned never go without your recovery kit.

Good advice thanks Grips.
You need to amend your signature at the bottom of your posts to add the recovery gear.
