Where do you get time to do it all?

Post by Mike Nel »

This past weekend I thought, whilst having a coffee with a buddy, where do we get time to do it all?

I take myself as an example. Here are all the things or hobbies that I am involved in:

Two weekends a month I am on stand by. I can therefor not go 4x4'ing or camping. I can't play golf, I can't go shooting. I can however go cycling early morning.

The other two weekends I like to spend time with my 3 year old where I can. She loves camping and we try and do that as much as we can. Family time is very important. I can go cycling early morning because I take my bike with. I can go 4x4'ing if there is a trail at the campsite. I can't play golf and I can't go to shoot.

Somewhere in between I have to make time for shooting and golfing. Both hobbies takes up a whole day

So, how do you make time for all your hobbies? Do you get to a point where you have to decide something has to go?

Some golfers should not take guns to the golf course with them. I think Mike is one of those golfers.

Play some golf and shoot your opponent's ball. 2 hobbies in 1

Have fewer hobbies
Camping and 4x4ing should be a way of life, not a hobbie

El hoor heelpad van die golf en driving ding. Nie n groot fan van vw platkarre, so ek het nog nie die sin gesien om elke saterdag vir heel dag lank n shity golf te ry nie. Seker as ek eendag oud is. Maar ek dink n honda is n beter ou mens kar as n golfie.

Well we enjoy the following camping, 4x4'ing, game drives and seeing the country, so more a way of life.

We are set up to pack and leave in less than 3 hours, including buying provisions. I have joined various trips, gone to places where they advised availability, within just a few hours.

Had to give up golf, wing shooting and classic car club and battle to find time to play in the mud or go for a ride on the bike. We travel a lot and so only get home on some Saturdays and sometimes leave on a Sunday. And to top it all we need to work some weekends.

Already 2019 is almost fully booked.

Tough one, we try get outdoors as often as possible because of our toddler.

Managed 1 camping trip and 2 day trips in January. For next 2 months we're probably a bit buckled with "life" new house and all the logistics that follow.

I work 6 days a week usually so it does get a bit rough. Ultimately I find the time because thats what my wife likes, happy spouse happy house.
