I have this little problem. I'm a perminant camper, and have nothing more than my vehicle standing 1300km from me, that I would have liked to at least insure Third Party Fire and Theft. Went to my usual insurer, who wants nothing to do with a TPFT unsupported one vehicle only policy.
Now lockdown, and I have a vehicle standing with no insurance out there in South Africa at a buddy of mine. Problem is, besides TS, who else would be willing to take such a modified vehicle?

I wouldn’t insure that vehicle. It’s dangerous.

Really, its slightly higher than normal and on stronger suspension than standard. Anyhow, its just for while it's still living out there in your crime riddled country. As soon as I get it home, it really does not matter. It may see a tar road once a month or so for about 80km. The rest of the time it will be on sand and gravel on the farm.

Nobody would steal it anyway, unless they were feeling suicidal.

I am more worried about damage by some SASRIA act. And it seems you have no problem with me running around with no insurance, so who pays for your damage when I run into you.

When you run into me my insurance pays. Why wouldn’t it?

Who will then chase me down for a recovery. Which will need to happen first before you stand a chance of getting your excess back of you were not at fault. We have seen so many mud slinging posts on various forums about irresponsible people who drive around without insurance. Yet you are advocating that I should not bother.

I don’t pay excess. But I’m not advocating that you shouldn’t bother. I’ts just that your vehicle is a death trap & is an accident waiting to happen & is best kept off the road.
