What’s wrong with his Stepway? I’ve never heard complaints about them

Good cars, until you need to sell it, like many/most/all French cars, they have a really really poor resale value.

But they have the best reliability and resale value/demand, I can get what I paid for my boring appliance white Tuna, and I've had it over 5 years and put on 120000kms

I’ve never lost my boots on a car & I have only ever owed 1 Jap car bought with my own money.

Buying a car for the pure purpose of resale value is like marrying someone because they are punctual or have tidy Handwritting.

Resale value is very subjective.

So you're happy to buy a Renault Stepway and not be able to trade it in? I'm not I can tell you that.
Resale is subjective, until its French/Chinese, then there is no resale value... I know vehicles are never an investment, but I atleast want to know that if/when the day comes, and I want to trade it in, the dealer will at least make me an offer on it.

I disagree. Buying a car because it has a good re-sale value is like marrying someone who gives punctual and tidy handjobs.

Re-sale value is, for 90% of vehicle owners, a decisive issue. The remaining 10% probably can afford to take a knock, others can't. Whether you finance it or bought it cash, recouping as much as possible on your vehicle when you sell it should be a priority.

Ja but with cars you do not have vows and resulting divorces should you cheat and such...

Because... Now and again you do not want a tidy hand job. You want a sloppy one. One that treats you like a door knob and actually hurts, but you liked it.... and you're too scared to admit that you liked it...

Think I just described Land Rover ownership.... :?

Buying a vehicle for it's resale value is as stupid as putting money away for your retirement...

Not an altogether an unheard of situation, but i am confused. Was the OP not referring to Vehicle services not hand jobs. If i am mistaken then I believe that the club where a certain ex Rugby World Cup winning Springbok Player was found with his pants around his ankles does offer a heart stopping service at a very reasonable price.

So you know the prices? ;)

If "Confused", there is club close to Atterbury that may be able to assist. I once noticed the name "Camp David" on a sign there and decided to google...

Yes, we've veered off topic.
It started off on service costs.
Then it got ugly when guys mentioned how lesser brands gouge customers to stay afloat.
It got uglier when someone mentioned the Renault Sandero Stepway
The only Renault worse than a Sandero was that Logan - looked like it was designed by a Communist Committee.
Then we got into resale values & as always - those who buy vehicles with poor resale came out swinging.

Let's get back to the costs of servicing 4x4's...
