For the R2.4 million that Merc asks for the G63 with 40 profile tyres, you could get:

A LC200GX, a LC76 & a Toyota 86 & have change for mods, if you are Toyota man.

or
A Wrangler Rubi unlimited - modded to go off tar, a Grand Cherokee Summit 3.0CRD & have change for 6 months fuel. If you like Jeeps.

or
A Duster 4x4, a Navara, a Kwid, a Koleos & a mask so people don't recognise you.

or
just buy 6 fully kitted new Jimny's...

or
buy one Range Rover Autobiography (but you'd need to borrow R400k)

MARCH 2019 MAG REVIEWS

CAR Magazine
MARCH

The NEW RAV4 on the cover.

The first 15 pages areall platkar stuff of little interest to me.

Then pages16 & 17 feature the Detroit Motor show:
1. Shelby GT500 - 522kW
2. Kia Telluride - bigger than a LC200!
3. RAM Heavy Duty - 298kW and 1355Nm. Cummins 6.7litre diesel.
4. Ford Explorer ST - 3.0 litre twin turbo petrol in what is basically an Everest...

Page 26 - The Oldsmobile F-85 Jetfire was the world's first production Turbo.
It had a V8 petrol producing 160kW & 407Nm from a 3.5.

Then, they DRIVE the new RAV (they also drive a new 911, but who cares?).
The RAV (I feel only the AWD models should be called RAV4) comes with only 2 motor options: 2.0 & 2.5 petrol,
No diesel (Toyota is ahead of the curve) & sadly, no forced induction.
The newRAV is shorter & lower than the outgoing model, but it has a longer wheelbase & has higher ground clearance.
The 2.0 comes in a FWD GX model.
There is also a 2.0 GX-R model which is AWD.
Both have 127kW& a low 207Nm.
Both of these get a full size spare.

The 2.5VX has 19" rims & no full size spare, it produces 132kW & 250Nm with an 8 speed auto.

Next up, they DRIVE the new All Electric Audi E-Tron - R1.7bar, 300kW & 664Nm, 1 speed...

Then they DRIVE the Rolls Royce Cullinan - looks shit.

Final DRIVE is some lambo...

Then a nice article on a 1965 Lamborghini - V12 3.5 litre producing 209kW & 325Nm in 1965 - that's not too shabby, Nige.

TESTS
1. Datsun Go Lux - Death trap gets safety spec
2. Merc A250 Hatch - R600k for a 2.0 Hatch - they say rather buy the Golf GTi or the Renault Megane RS 280.
3. Kia Sportage 1.6 GDI - they say rather burn to death in a Kuga or buy a Qashqai
4. Another Nissan Death Trap - Hardbody 2.5 4x4 D/Cab - they say rather buy a Isuzu 2.5 4x4 for R2 500 more or a Mahindra...
5. Mahindra XUV500 2.2 CRDe W10 Auto for R420k. - They say rather buy an X-Trail or a Tiguan
6. Merc C180 9G Tronic - R590k for a 9 speed 1600cc - They the Audi A4 is better, but it's better than the Alfa Guilia...

EV's? On Motorbikes?
Vespa 4kW Electrica is the weakest, but there's a 149kW Lightening LS218 motorbike.

Harley Davidson will be the first large motorcycle company to sell an all electric motorbike - it goes on sale early 2020.

Nice article on the build of the Dakar winning Toyota Gazoo Racing Hilux. Dakar fans will love it!

In classic buys they cover the Renault 1.6TS of 1966 to 1975. I remember friends bringing home one, brand new.

That's all folks!

The MASSIVE BMW X7, the new Range Rover Evoque (Freelander)

MAY 2019 MAG REVIEWS

MAY 2019

The NEW Triton features on the cover.

Voetspore Article by Johan, Kingsley Holgate also writes.

GWM has increased their bakkie warranty from 2 years100 000km to 5 years 100 000km.

The new Mitsubishi Eclipse.

THEN!!! They have, on page 25, a advert/product review of the Kelly Kettle which was heavily discussed on the 4x4AG WhatsApp Group.
You can get one for R2840.00 - that's for the full Scout Kit... www.cuttingedgesa.co.za

The Lexus UX - basically a Lexus CH-R

Interesting article on the King of the Hammers event - held in California. Makar Dakar seem reasonable.

They Cover the ToyotaRust De Winter Jamboree. (There's a pic of Nardo Niewenhuys).

Then a Comparative Test - Hilux vs Triton - basically it is great.
But they say the Hilux wins because it does all things well, while the Triton does many things better, it is not as 'rounded'...
But they rate the Triton Highly.

Then they cover the BRV from Brandtbru. It looks a bit like a Defender - but it is NOT 4x4. R432k... Made in Bloem.

A buyers guide on Braai accessories, like the Jaffle Maker or Baking Stone...

That's basically it...
