2024 was quite a good year for exploring! We managed to visit three of the world's four largest sand islands: Bribie, Moreton, and Stradbroke. Fraser Island remains on our bucket list.
The year kicked off with a trip to Moreton Island with the Queensland branch of the 4x4 Action Group. It was a fantastic trip, but unfortunately, I tore my calf muscle while loading the roof rack. I used the recovery hitch as a step and overextended myself. Following Manny's advice, I jogged it off six weeks later.
We also did a quick camping trip to Bribie Island, the only one of the four islands accessible without a ferry. It's also the cheapest for a beach driving permit, which attracts the Bogan Patrol drivers, but hey we can't have our way everywhere. Despite this, it was still a good weekend getaway.
We took a day trip to The Springs 4x4 Park, which offers some decent tracks, including the famous "Beer o'clock Hill." As my Fortuner is my daily driver, I haven't attempted this hill yet, but maybe one day.
We revisited the tracks at Beerburrum State Forest. It's great to have such accessible tracks nearby. We spent the day at Australia Zoo and took the scenic route back through the forest.
To wrap up the year, we enjoyed a long weekend camping on Stradbroke Island. It was one of my favorite camping experiences of all time, with off-grid camping only accessible via beach access.

And so we come to the end of 2024. 17 Trips completed in 2024 and what a year it has been. Just 1 more weekend camp next week.
These pics were just some highlights of Botswana, Mapungubwe, Kgalagadi, Thuli Block, Holnek, Swaziland to name a few.
2025 sees Namibia from South to North through the dunes, Etosha, The Okavango Delta, The Caprivi. Back to The Kgalagadi, maybe a nostalgic trip back to The West coast starting from Alexander Bay, Mozambique, back to the Northern Cape exploring the back end of Pella along the river and some others..
Happy and safe travels everyone.

2024 was a year best to forget, not everyday that one ends up on your roof wheels in the air, fortunately he lives another day. Ready for 2025.
