Welcome to our small forum, tell us more about the move to SA. I thought the USA was the land of milk and honey?

PS - your Solid-works skills may come in very handy for the odd project here and there, do you make a living out of it or do you do it as a hobby?

While it is true that the US is the land of milk and honey, I'm more of a vineyards and safari kind of guy. ;)

I am an engineer and hold a few certifications in Solidworks for design, etc. I agree, CAD knowledge can come in very handy for home projects. My last offroading one was a custom winch-mount bumper and rock rails I built for my wife's JK Jeep Wrangler. I slapped together a few 2D drawings in AutoCAD for the sheetmetal, output to .DXF with toolpath and cut on a CNC plasma cutting machine. The rest of the tubing I bent with a machine bender intended for rigid electrical conduit. I wanted to go much further with the modifications, but she decided that she didn't want to get nearly as aggressive with things as what I had envisioned. Story of my life...

Hi All,

Thanyou for the add, great to see all the old names, faces and characters from 'the place that shall not be named' on here.

The last 3 years I have not been active on the forums and let my 4x4AG membership (GP112) slide, partly because I sold my Disco 3, but mostly because we moved to Canada :D .

I only became aware of this forum because my FB timeline got filled the other day with a dust up on the 4x4AG facebook page, Manny your fanclub does not live in Secunda .

I'll keep you updated on the offroading activities and trails on Vancouver Island on the odd occasion, great to see all the familiar threads on here, although I have a Stihl chainsaw and a Honda lawnmower that needs servicing, I haven't found the lawnmower section?

My lovely wife recently bought me a Ford F150 (I am a kept man), so I won't be getting involved in any brand bashing discussions except when it comes to Manny and fearless.

regards

Dylan

Hi there ladies and gents.
Thanks for the approval and that I can join this group. Hope that we are going to have great fun. I am not in South Africa now, but soon, I'll be back and then I am going to camp and 4 X 4. Busy planning a nice trip to Lesotho.
Greetings

Hi all, glad to be part of a Forum again.. Hope I can learn and contribute something. I used to be a Jeep only offroader, but now the Nissan Patrol gogga bit me. Currently standing on my 6th patrol bought in 17 months 😂😂 Mainly using my Safari Pickup with RD28 as a farm bakkie, TD42T Pickup as a farm bakkie, and tgen Td42 SUV (soon to be turbo) as my play vehicle and general transport😜
Bit of a Hillbilly
I joined after Manny begged me, must be my superior driving skills😂😂
