It is indeed a 1957 3800/1 Ton Carryall with the NAPCO sourced 4 wheel drive conversion. This was the first year you could buy them like this straight from the dealer (before that you had to send the vehicle to NAPCO).

There is at least one true 1957 GMC NAPCO truck in RSA, as it looked like when found (ex Namibia in the diamond fields -
