There must be a reason why race teams run BF`s. I am sure that allot of testing are done before tyre choices are made. One would expect top Dakar teams to use only the best. Now the question why are they using BF`s and not another so to be better brand?

Is the spare tyre stored under the engine? The sump was damaged as per the Facebook post where you stole that picture from, Neil.

Giniel is 4.30hrs behind Peterhansel, thats definitely it for him.

On the other hand, the top ten are only separated by 37min. Last year it was Nasser who hit a rock with Peterhansel crashing in the latter stages so anything can still happen. Nasser only 3.26mins behind Peterhansel.

SHAMEER VARIAWA/ZAHEER BODHANYA are now the top placed South Africans in 49th place with their Nissan Navara.

I reckon the BFG lost traction causing him to hit the rock.

Well done Toyota, you beat diesel 2WD Mini’s and Peugeot’s in the sand dunes with your V8 petrol powered 4WD vehicles.

You must be so proud

Wonder when Toyota will release a Dakar version of the Hilux with a V8?
