I am busy finishing our prototype square drop trailer, to be ready for its maiden 3 week trip starting 1 March. Starting at Croc bridge KNP, all the way up to Pafuri, then Nthakeni, Mapungubwe, Blouberg and finally Marakele. Lots of work to be done before then!
How about some photos in a thread about the build in the technical section. It's always nice to see other people projects.
Jeez this was a push to get this done in 10 actual building days...but the forst maiden voyage is in progress. Testing for all the possible bugs and things we may want to change. Starting our 3 week trip through KNP(Croc bridge to Pafuri), Nthakeni, Mapangubwe, Blouberg, Marakele.....
Will post build pics when we are back.

Thanks, that does look good.
We'll eagerly await more photos and the technical rundown.

So, it is almost the end of the year. Did you get out and about as much as you planned?

Rust de Winter at some stage ...
Botsalano & Dinokeng etc in late June
Eastern Cape & Katberg Pass in Sept
Ithala, Somkhanda, Mabibi, Mkusi,Wakkerstroom etc in Nov

Hopefully to be in a position to do at least one trip to the bush, somewhere, and attend a club outing in the new year.
Paul you set very low goals....
... then only achieved half of them.. . :D

It's called being realistic about life. I'd love to spend at least a month in Northern Namibia and the same for Botswana, but those are unrealistic expectations at this point in time.

As 2024 is coming to an end, we are heding to Botswana for a well deserved trip. We will also go visit where I grew up - Katima, and then to our old bush camp in Caprivi, Lianshulu bush camp.
Trip going up:
Khama
Elephant Sands
Senyati
Panamatenga (visiting friends)
Katima, Lianshulu

Back down is not planned and will wing it as we go. Will try to go to Khubu Island though.

... I think its well worth a visit.

3-4 hrs to just outside Mafikeng
but my phone thought , at times,
it was in Botswana ...
so too its Sthn Bots type Kalahari veld.

We camped pretty much with ltd facilities:
Water in a tap, a basic shower off a Donkey
and a toilet ... but bees lived there ,
so only dump after hours...
... but there are other camp areas better equipped.

Its a breeding reserve for the parks
and mainly for grazers and no predators
to speak of save of course leopard.

Quite a few drainage lines to drive along
and a number of waterholes as focal points.

Few visitors, so nice and quiet.
I went for 3 nights
and thats appropriate.
Nice camping ... feel of remoteness.
