Ge'Off - the salesman checked the entire service history - no mention of it.
It also disappeared off my myToyota App.

My belief is I DID have a recall, but due to ad admin error it was reset or cancelled.

I have no issue with a glitch - I have a major issue if I have to spend R7k on something that Toyota should have done...
Many, take a drive down to Alberton Toyota one day and speak to the service manager. I think they picked it up on mine when they plugged in that clever computer thingy. Mine should not even have that problem according to the history of the call back.

OK, some feedback.
Woolf sent me a PDF, basically proving the recall was Spiral Cable related.
That is what they replaced. The Spiral Cable. That's it. So the guy telling me it wasn't the Spiral Cable is, quite frankly, an idiot.

So I decided to contact Toyota SA. I went to the website to get a contact number.
They don't provide numbers - unforkingbelievable.
You click on what you want to enquire about & basically it puts you in a enquiry loop where you land up where you started.

Stupidly, they encourage you to rather use Social Media,
I'm not on Twitter or any of the others, so my only choice was FB.
I clicked on the FB logo & it took me to their FB page.
The FB pages encourages you to use the Inbox rather that post it out in public for all to see.
This is truly mindnumbingly stupid - giving me an EFFing phone number would do the same.
But then I find out how the scam works: If you Inbox them a FB Bot replies to you.
So I posted the entire Post#1 of this Thread in the Inbox.... Image
This fried the idiotic Bot’s brain & the Bot replied;
"I'm only a Bot & still very young, I can’t answer your question. I will get a human to contact you"

Anyway - no human contacted me, so left with no choice & facing automated closed doors, I unleashed hell. I posted on their FB page & pointed out that they are 7 layers removed from customers.

Next day a human asked if I could Inbox my contact details.

I did.

The following day (today) Toyota South Africa called me.
They apologised for the FB Bot & for being unreachable by humans.
They said I had missed the recall & as I started to tell her what I thought of that comment, she quickly added:
"But we will supply the part for free, you just pay for labour, all arranged with Kobus of Halfway Toyota.
Please contact him, he is expecting your call"

So THANK YOU to TOYOTA SA for restoring my faith in the brand.
Fearless is nearly 10 years old & has 115 000km & Toyota has stood by their product.

That is certainly something lesser brands like VW & Land Rover can’t claim.

Pity about the wall they put up, but once penetrated, they are all warm & inviting.

So a Happy Ending - but not the type Apoc regularly pays for...

Well done Toyota!

Good news there Manny.

I could see that the prospect of having to spend a few rand was starting to really depress you!

OK, so since my last post on Wednesday the 19th this happened:

I went away for the long weekend.
Then I went in to see Kobus at Halfway Toyota Northgate last Wednesday 25 September.

He said he knew all about it and it's all sorted.
But they didn't have stock of the Spiral Cable but had order one and give me a call later to tell me when to bring Fearless in.
I asked if he was sure as Toyota phones can't make outgoing calls.
He said if he didn't call later that day (Wednesday) he'd call on Thursday.

He never called Wednesday.

He never called Thursday.

So, on Friday I went in and asked him if he is sure he can make outgoing calls.
He said yes he can. He promised to call me on Monday.
I thanked him and left.

On Monday Kobus never called.
But this could be because no Toyota employee has a phone that can make outgoing calls.
This is not unusual because Vodacom has the same issue.

So today, Tuesday 1 October I'll pop in for the 3rd time to see if Kobus has ordered the Spiral Cable.
I'm willing to bet he hasn't as no Toyota employee has a phone that can make outgoing calls.
But I'll let him use my phone - I'm helpful like that.

OK, as I said I would, I went to Halfway Toyota today @ 14:00.
I did this because I said I would - rare gift to be able to do this.

Kobus wasn't in. So I was re-directed to the 'Team Leader'.
I told her the whole story - she didn't take kindly to me pointing out that Toyota's phones can't call out.

After typing away at her keyboard she said she will speak to Kobus & get back to me.
I explained that this delay & desist tactic had been used in the past & I won't be falling for it again.

She assured me that she would call me TODAY!

Her last words to me were "I promise you I will call you today."

I'll be impressed if she does because Toyota's phones can't make outgoing calls.
