Mike, agreed, it really looks the part, but what failure, real softroader.

guys evening all, have a look at this comparison , two top class luxury 4x4's https://youtu.be/0oMTE73uldg
We tested the Range Rover sport in 2015 as well. It falls into a class of Evoque with a bit more capabilities. Very disappointing.

I don't know why they chose it for the comparison.

Back on topic

I have always bought standard.

Modified have always scared me as you don't know how well the mod was done. Seen too many disasters.

The Disco that I bought had an aftermarket front bumper that was fitted by one of the local fitment centres. Before the Mountain Passes trip I bought a front bash plate that mounts to the some of the same bolts that attach the bumper. I found that the bumper was attached with mild steel M8 instead of high tensile M12 bolts that should have been used. This was done so that they didn't have to take time and trouble to correctly align the bumper. Even though it has recovery points on the bumper they used completely the wrong hardware to attach it. Took me a bit of time to fit it correctly with the correct bolts but now I can use the recovery points when necessary. It's because of experiences like this that I don't trust many mods done by so called specialist. I'd rather work on critical system my self or have it done by someone I trust and can inspect the work as it's done.

I would prefer buying an unmolested vehicle, for the reasons mentioned above as well as the fact that whatever rocked the previous owner's boat is not necessarily what I would spend money on.

my Fortuner, probably belongs in the modified category, everything done for a purpose, approach and departure angle improved. Our passes trip at times would have tested my vehicle had it been standard. My vehicle have allowed me to see some of the most beautiful scenes and parts of our country. Its allowed me to save of my buddy's buts, even my own. Would I do it with a new vehicle, doubt it, not that extreme, underbody protection and body lift at most.
