And to add to Andreas' post, rather look for a brand that has been around for at least 5 years. This mainly for spares back up.
However having said that, I have a seen that Conquerer is taking a hammering on the 4x4 CF due to suspension problems on their Companion models. Not related to your trailer search specifically, but it highlights the manufacturer's interest in customer complaints.
Emmanuel does seem very in sy noppies (autocorrect chose "nappies" lol) with his Trailer, but each to his own.

Agree wholeheartedly. Lots of campers, most look and feel the same. A lot of the known names had very visible quality issues just in the final finish etc. Saw a few new clever ideas on some of the vans - the way Berg Offroad trailers are designed and built is impressive from a design perspective. What I found the most frustrating was that nobody knew the prices of their goods, or even the specs. Only found a few stands where the people were friendly, knew their product line and pricing.Found a few new items and was surprised at the low price.Bugjuic wrote: ↑Mon Jun 03, 2024 3:36 pmThis years Expo was well worth the visit. IF you wanted to compare off-road caravans and trailer to each other, this was the place to be! They really had most of the main manufacturers/importers there. Was very impressed with some local caravan/trailer manufacturers, and then utterly disappointed in other. Interestingly the ones that advertise the best had the worst manufactured items in most cases.
I still don't know exactly how and with what vehicle you would tow some of those rigs (hitting 3000kg) in real deep sand/mud, and they are built so wide that you would not maneuver it any place really remotely. But hey it is essential to have an aircon/DSTV/55"Flatscreen/3kW inverter/600W solar panels/private bar/2fridges/en-suite bathroom/hot water/3room awnings and a complete kitchenette when going to Gariep dam for the weekend...
I missed the market for, plain/simple/bush-proof caravans/trailers, affordable, in the sense that camping is worth it, and not just a status symbol anymore.
Roudque had some really interesting bracketry, so bought a few.
MCI Retail knew their stuff, supplies solar systems - bought a 430W panel for R1500 - very happy with that. It is going ontop of the squaredrop trailer - fits the whole roof space - awesome.
Getting to the food yard was a schlep to say the least.

Absolutely agreed. Also, BERG offroad trailers showcasing of the whole design/manufacturing process was excellent, starting from the chassis, to the panel-work, folded, and open, was really impressive. Also only weighing in at I believe 1500kg was a win. Went back to view them again. https://www.bergoffroad.com/
The food stands and overall flow of the show was not the best. And the map was useless.
For those interested, there was a nice foldable braai, not the smallest or lightweight (20%larger than others), but actually height adjustable and will be able to feed a family of 4. https://braaiq.co.za/ . Well worth the money in my books. Because of the bottom platform can stand on sand with ease and all the ash is "caught" and can be discarded.

It's all relative...
