On that point, same applies to fishing licenses.

In Namibia, the cob go to spawn at Paaltjies and you are not allowed to catch any cob in that area as from 01 January to 31 March every year.

My BIL posted pics the other day on Whatsapp about the huge kabeljoue he caught at Paaltjies, using worms (illegal) and that he sells it (illegal with a recreational permit). He posted a few pics of a bucket full of galjoen (far exceeding his quota) just for shits and giggles. And he does this without batting an eyelid.

Like I have said, I have given up the good fight.

This is what I was mentioning in my post. Although the permit thing could work, there is no way it can work without the political willpower to enforce it.

And the manpower. Sadly, most of our "police" are more interested in bribes and KFC. I read a press report a while back where POPCRU was upset that SAPS was doing criminal record checks on SAPS recruits............

The TMPD is currently more active chasing the informal "traffic directors" away from traffic lights they man during load shedding than really giving a rat's ass about the law. Well, chasing the informal "traffic directors" away and soliciting bribes, naturally.

@Disco Nic, the Saffers will pay that with a smile, so too will I.

Sadly, I think there is no middle ground on this one as it is impossible to regulate: either a full ban or let "God's water oor God's akker".

After my 7 year old son was nearly run over at Paaltjies by a raving mad fisherman chasing cob, I have given up the good fight.
I have my permits, I’d pay for them too!

There isn’t a middle ground, it’s up to us to pick the fight when we see something, but as mentioned who is really lus to go PK some idiot…

Probably the same fishermen that I clocked doing 80 down the beach who almost knocked down my wife…

I see a very similar Thread to this was started on Anythingbutt4x4.cum.

Very interesting how the responses differ....

Clearly we are doing something right...

There are idiot drivers all over the world... Had this bogan on Bribie Island that decided he'd rather drive on the dune area. Not his best moment, especially during the turtle nesting season.

Luckily someone took a video of the arse and shared it with the rangers which resulted in a suspended permit and $1,100 fine.

And it is that time of the year again. Turtles coming out to lay their eggs. Spotted this girl heading back on Bribie Island. Luckily we have game rangers over here that mark the nests and people going out of their way to avoid them.

We had the privilege to catch some hatchlings on the beach this past Sunday.

Really great to have seen some when they came to lay the eggs and now when they hatched. Sunday was a nice and hot day here in QLD so the beach track was quite busy. But really good seeing everyone slowing down and stopping to let the little ones pass.
