Good morning All!
I joined the club a while back but haven't been active yet. I got a polite nudge from Manny to introduce myself so, here goes
My name is Ewan Oesterlein. My first 4x4 was a 2008 Isuzu KB300 which was replaced with a 2015 Isuzu KB300. I started 4WDing a couple of years ago with the 2015 KB. As I became more confident, the damage became more prominent
. I then bought a cheap Jeep XJ to play around with while protecting the bakkie. During that time, I also started focussing on building the bakkie for overlanding.
Eventually, I sold the XJ and focused only on overlanding. I finished the Isuzu build by selling it and buying an ex-Adventure Direct Hilux with everything I should need (emphasis on 'should').
My short overlanding portfolio includes Namibia (2008 Isuzu), Eastern Cape Passes (2015 Isuzu), the Namakwa Eco Tour, and a Dune trip to Meob Bay, both with the Hilux. We love the Kruger and have visited there multiple times throughout and try to get there at least once every year.
I also have an 87' Jurgens AERO XL which is an ongoing project. This is to be used on papgooi trips and in the Kruger. The idea is to make it a gravel roader to use in some more places across the country.
