I had an interesting discussion with an insurer yesterday.
In respect of hijackings, their highest risk vehicles, proportional to the number insured, are:
Toyota Hiluxes
Toyota Fortuners
Ford Rangers
VW Polos
...and, at the top of the list (highest risk)...
2016 and later model Range Rovers.
It should be noted that this insurer has until a few years ago specialized in insuring high-value vehicles and high net worth clients, although they do have a large number of the 1st 4 vehicles mentioned above on their books.

Also not interesting...XJ Junkie wrote:I think it’s a well known statistic that those are subjected to high theft rates. It’s not news at all.

You guys have it wrong.
Yes. It is well known but it is very interesting. Why?
Before I buy a vehicle, I make sure I know almost everything about it. High thefts and Cranks snapping would immediately make me look elsewhere
And with my Ranger you ask? Well. I had the very first one in Cape Town, so there weren’t any theft stats on it at the rime
