Land Rover Owners Club Landys & Lattes outing.

#1

Post by Paul#25 »

Yesterday we joined the latest Landys & Lattes outing organized by the Land Rover Owners Club. It was great to go on an outing of any type again since the end of 2021.
Most of the participants got together at the Shell service station close to the Hertford Junction on the Pelindaba road. Of the 24 vehicle that got together there, most were Defenders with a few Discovery's and Freelander 2. We were heading for Magalies Cheese via the Aloe Farm just off the R104. We landed up mid way along the group as well rolled out with Chas in his Defender 130 behind us. Heading towards Harties and Pelindaba, which were hiding in a misty haze of smog, the radios were used to ask the leaders to slow down and wait for the gaps behind to close up. A certain well known Defender 130 seemed to battle to maintain the convoy speed. The planned stop at the Aloe Farm turned into a quick stop outside to see where it was due to time constraints. The lunch venue, Magalies Cheese, is close to the Owl Rescue Center. There wasn't enough room in the normal parking area for all the Landys to park together so another area was opened for us all park.
Harties Cheese is a more rustic than Van Gaalens but has a good menu and generous portions. The hamburgers were huge and the breakfast that I had was a good meal. I'll happily recommend stopping there for a good meal if you are in the area. Before we left we had a look at the cheese, yogurt and other goodies for sale in the shop. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals and have a good chat with like minded friends.
I'm sure Chas will be able to add his bit to this writeup.

Kak funny. :D :) :lol: :o
I must ask him to remove his 4x4AG sticker to prevent bringing this Club into disrepute! :lol:

Still, we should be glad he didn't get lost!

... was a good short,near-by, day-outing for LROCs
more recent, regular series of Bruncheon excursions;
normally only attended by 10 or so LRs
as this Sat we registered 2 dozen ... not bad;
The Venue owners struggled to park 24 Landies !

Even better attendance was the 40 odd Landies
that arrived at todays LROC stand for 'Cars in The Park'
at Zwartkops RaceTrack.
