Joe - the R357 is a moerofalong road, running pretty much from Loeriesfontein to Kimberly. Which sections are you intending to travel ?
In 2020, I drove from Loeriesfontein to Prieskae on the R357. There were no stop/goes, road works etc. It is a dirt / untarred road until just after Copperton / just before Prieska. But it was in good condition. Bear in mind that I last travelled this two years ago and the condition will depend on what the weather has been like in between. Oh - of course - also when last the road was scraped / graded.
I cannot comment on the R357 from Prieska to Kimberly. I presume this is the bit you want to know about ?

thanks for reply.
i also traveled this road many moons ago,in a year when part from loeriesfontain and brandvlei was written about in drive out magazine(not sure here about mag) as loneliest road in south africa, and it was lonely that day for sure.
you are correct about Kimberly to Prieska.
in general potholes and gravel i do not mind, while every stop/go takes year of my life,so that is why i inquire.
