By the way i use General MT on my bakkie with 15" tyres. First set gave me 50k km without hassels at R1800 a tyre. A 3 ply tyre at a very good price.
On my other bakkie with 17" I use Cooper ST-Maxx. So far they have 20k km on the clock and very little wear. My buddy got almost 90km on his set on the farm with 1 puncher. But at that price i expect high mileage.
Some guys get good results with Dunlop AT3G which is 3 ply. I have not tried them. The normal Dunflop tyres are kak.
Also with Achilles MT but have not tried them.
Tyres I wont use again Dunlop AT3, all Bridgestone, Velocity, Cooper AT 3, Normal Achilles, normal General AT 3 there are also a few others. This is all due to bad experiences.

Think a very good write up by someone that drives some of the worst dirt roads in South Africa. Thanks Ernie.
I do agree on your list of bad experience tyres. I would just ad Maxxis Bighorn to the list. We are now on no 5 lost to sidewall cuts between the Little Patrol and the Yank Ranger

Looks like will only get about 60k from my current BFG's.
They took a hammering in Nam on the dirt roads. But no puncha's.
No clear winner yet on the forum for replacements.
Cheers

The set on the 79 Cruiser is closing in on 80k km. Think they will get 90k km plus. Would like to go 32 x 11.5 but BFG does not make them. So the next set will not be BFG. Hope I am not going to regret that in the future.

I see the new Grenadier has chosen the KO2 as it’s tyre of choice for all of its marketing launch material. It must be a really crap tyre to be launched on a copycat model
Flex is overrated

I’m sure Ineos will give you two options regarding tire choice.
1) BF’s for the GQ Man sticking mostly to tar
2) Anything else for the real adventurer
