Here are the cars I have owned in my 42 years of life:

Opel Ascona 1.6
Ford Laser 1.3L
Citi Golf 1.6i
Toyota Corolla 1.6 GLS
VW Polo Classic 1.9 Tdi
Audi A4 Avant 3.0tdi
Subaru Forester 2.5XS Auto
Pajero 3.2 DiD GLS LWB
VW Jetta 6 1.4TSi
Ford Fiesta 1.6Tdci
Pajero 3.2 Did SWB
Honda Accord 2.0

Of all these cars, the best one I have ever owned was the Polo. That 1.9tdi surpassed my expectations for power and economy, it had a huge boot and was comfortable. It was a great vehicle, I still regret selling it.
Flex is overrated

Funny you should mention the Polo. Friend of mine came for a visit and shared your exact words.

Its a real shame they don't make the 1.9 diesel polo anymore. I see you get a 1.5 diesel in the vivo though...

I have to say that I am starting to get sentimental about the FJ.
Had a lump in my throat with the first one when it got sold. Will definitely cry if the second FJ goes. Not hoping it does

In my early days I would not even allow the kids to eat a sweet in the car. They had to wipe their feet before they got in. Now my grand kids have food fights in my car

I used to remove the seats from my cars once a month to do a "deep clean" which involved clay polishing, cleaning the engine bay, the spare wheel tub and scrubbing the insides of the fenders and the backs of the wheels. My Saturday therapy session, as my wife called it. Eating was taboo for anyone. This all ended when my 3-month-old daughter upchucked in my 6-month-old car for the first time.

Slightly non 4x4 related....but nonetheless

I've had a Toyota Hilux since '93....2.4 D. In '98 I bought one one the last 2.8D's. I also had a '68 Mercedes 250SE. 8-)

Had to choose between the two when I divorced. The most difficult decision I ever made....

Now the road holding of that particular Hilux was good (yeah, yeah laugh at that all you want) So I went up Outeniqua Pass and came down with the Hilux, hell-bent to push it to let me down. It didn't.......

So I ended up with the Hilux....and she sold the Merc. :(

(OH how I miss that Merc)

I am still with a 2.8D Hilux, albeit another one.....current wife rolled the other one.

Everybody wants to buy it, but tell them it is my coffin to be buried in. The dark men have a good laugh at that

I just love that truck!
2009 Subaru Forester
