Actually VM Motori is derived from the names of the owners of the Company - VM Motori was founded by two entrepreneurs, Claudio Vancini and Ugo Martelli

Slight correction....

VM Motori is the Italian Diesel manufacturer that belongs to Fiat Chrysler Group. GM do not use VM Motori motors (generally) - Toyota have in the past, but generally they use Toyota Diesels. - GM use Duramax engines - which are built by GM. Ford uses the Power Stroke diesel - which is a Ford motor.

Cummins biggest application is actually used in Mopar products - Dodge in particular. although they are fitted to many trucks as well as Nissan trucks, and a few Chinese makes.

Isuzu is Isuzu - but actual road vehicles are a very small part of Isuzu's product range. most of them go to commercial stuff.

Interesting merger though.

Isuzu were involved in many agreements and developments of diesel with other companies. Even they and Toyota were in the same bed not so long ago.

Think both companies can learn from each other in this merge they are the big one`s in diesel tech.

I think both Isuzu & Cummins are great names & will carry even greater brand value once they start producing vehicles together.
Having a Cummins badge on the side can be used in a similar way to what the likes of Cosworth, AMG, M-Power have done.
