Plenty guys run STMaxx in sand & they work well. Much better than a regular AT
Because they are a M/T tyres  or VERY aggressive A/T  , if you take a look at the Cooper range the ST pro and ST Maxx are the M/T tyres, both starting with "ST".
The A/T tyres are the AT3 range and you get both LT and SUV spec in the same tyre, so just double check as the LT AT3 is only slightly cheaper than the ST Maxx, whereas the SUV spec one is a fair bit cheaper

If I need to do sand only I would have used Maxxis. Have dropped pressure as low as 0.4 bar with no problems. Only thing is we have lost three Maxxis tyres due to sidewall cuts.
You will never find me without Stroh or a 4x4 :D

That’s not how Cooper themselves have described their tyre. It’s a offroad bias AT.

MTs are for more aggressive.

I got some very slight damage from rocks with the Bighorns but that can happen with any tyre. But I do find the Trepadors to be better in every respect.
