Forum Upgrade Etc.

Hello 4x4 AG folks.

I am going to need to do some maintenance on the forum at some point.

The version of PHP (ie: the programming language this forum is built on) reached end of life in November last year and I'm going to need to look at an upgrade path shortly. With the custom styling, banners and similar, this is not going to be as easy as updating the other forum I run - ie: Patrol4x4.co.za.

In short, at the moment, I am investigating an upgrade route for this as and when I have time. When I've figured out how to address the issues I've currently got, the following will be happening.

1: I'll be firing up a new web host.
2: The forum will be put in maintenance mode whilst I back everything up and similar.
3: The backups will be restored on the new host.
4: DNS records will be changed for 4x4ag.co.za and 4x4actiongroup.co.za. This can take up to 8 hours.
5: The forum will be removed from maintenance mode.

In short: expect some disruptions. But I will notify everybody in advance.

And hope 2024 rocks for everyone.

Following the recent tapatalk issue, I am going to need to look at this upgrade issue as a matter of urgency. I foresee that I will be focussing on this in the next week or two. Details will be posted once I have an update route planned, but there will be a day or two's downtime forum-wise in the next month. I will notify everyone once I've got the upgrade path planned, and when I am ready to do it. But it will be in the next three weeks. Just a heads up.
