Replacement batteries for power tools.

I have two older battery drills and a torque gun that that have dead battery packs. I'm not too worried about the the drills but would like to get the torque gun going again so it can go into the "travelling" toolkit. It's an 18v pack with Ni-cad batteries. Are these batteries still available to make up a new pack or could I convert it to the newer type of batteries that are used in the latest drill and other tools.
Any advice.....

I have heard some Battery suppliers take them in and get it sorted

I use a place in Benoni who repacked batteries. Love of money I cant remember the name but I can take you to them!
I will scratch my brain for the name and let y'know

Thanks guys. Didn't go for the Bells yet but enjoyed some Amarula and Melktert while watching some meat tan...

I had some batteries repacked years ago by a place in Edenvale..... I think it was these guys.

What I have experienced is they last about 3 years before they get moeg. Not quite as long as new.
Suppose no other economic option.

What make drill are you talking about? I bought an adapter so that i can use a Li ion battery in my old Ni-cad Makita and it works just fine.

I have had batteries repacked in the long distant past by Carter agencies. I seem to remember that they stopped working direct to the public.
They have relocated to Longmeadow park which i would guess is quite close to you.

Thanks for the good info. With the torque gun being 18v it will be a good candidate for converting to Li-ion batteries. I'll check the link out.

Top Tip:
When buying power tools, try buy 12v.
When the batteries pack up, you just use long leads & connect it to a 12v Car battery.
Not as mobile, but most of you work at the same spot all the time.
Plus, it can be carried...

I bought 4Ah 12V lead acids from Communica and replaced my drill batteries with that. Had to modify the pack to fit the larger batteries and it is heavier but I now only charge after a couple days of heavy use.

How did you mod the drill to take the new larger batteries.
