That's right - I have a3" whopper!

Background:
The great & glorious Fearless was fitted with the standard 57mm Zorst when it left the factory after being assembled by motoring archangels!

Many years later SAC (Shady Auto Clowns) fitted a 63mm 'De Graaff' exhaust.
Only problem is: it wasn't really a De Graaff but some home made crap the scum at SAC made up.
I must say though, the exhaust made a slight performance improvement, the turbo seemed to spool up a bit earlier & low down grunt was slightly better.
This may not sound like much, but SAC also fitted a chip & did the whole Dyno Tune & that made ZERO difference.

But, being a badly fitted SAC exhaust it was a problem, after every 4x4 outing I had to fit new exhaust support rubbers as one fell off at each outing.
I even had to take it to Randburg Mall Exhausts who cut the pipe, turned the tail piece slightly then re-welded it to stop it banging after one 4x4 trip.

Anyway, I decided to De-SAC Fearless & put plans in motion to remove the useless chip & replace the crap Exhaust.

Phase One is the Exhaust...

The 3" Whopper!:
Ge'Off (Wave) pulled a few strings & arranged me a Genuine S/S 76mm De Graaf Zorst.
Thank you Ge'Off - you are a forking Star!!!

It came shrink wrapped, I eventually had it fitted - it's a perfect fit.

The noise is basically the same as the SAC 63mm Exhaust, but at Cruising speeds I suspect it is noisier...
During normally (as I mostly do) it's difficult to notice a difference, but at larger throttle openings it feels meatier...
So I was initially a bit disappointed that a 20% bigger pipe was giving only barely noticeable improvements.
Remember the jump from the standard 57mm Zorst to the SAC 63mm exhaust produced noticeable improvements, albeit only slightly.

BUT!!!
Over the past 500km, which, admittedly, included about 80% highway driving (up & down between JHB & PTA) I have noticed a significant indicated* fuel consumption improvement.

The OBC (which, on a Toyota, merely gives an opinion rather that accurate readouts) shows I;m averaging 10l/100km (or 10km/l for those who like their consumption backwards).

But, whether the OBC is right or wrong - I did manage over 400km on the 1st half a tank (standard 80l) which supports the OBC.

For those who don't know, OBC is On Board Computer or, in Toyota's case Opinion 'Bout Consumption :D )...

I haven't seen such low consumption since before I started modding Fearless...

I'll report back when I fill up & again after the next tank - but it certainly looks like the 3" sucks less than the 2&1/2 incher I had before...

The next step is to remove the Dastek Chip Silly Auto Clowns (SAC) fitted & have Fearless 'Mapped'...

But I'll report on that once it has been done...

Hmm. a 3" pipe on a D4D... I am sure it is louder.... maybe fit one of those fuel line magnets for more performance?

Fuel line magnets don't work on Diesel because people who buy Diesel are not that gullible...

RGMotorsport in Randburg tuned the Dastek Chip I had in Bagginses. They did a decent job.

now , if you planned this properly ( like you always have us understand that you are a planning genius ) , you wouldve had the mapping booking made well in advance !

Let me explain...

A Zorst improves response as it reduces back-pressure & the clogging of a exhaust with DPF.
The chip was to improve lugging power without increasing consumption.

Brakpanners do things for appearances only - both mine were practical & non visible changes.

Time & money constraints forced the Map down the priority line.
Then, when I was finally ready to Map, Wave had buggered off on a long luxurious Indian Ocean holiday.

I'm glad you're happy with your new exhaust, the De Graaf job works well and the silencer they have chosen is big enough to make too much noise, the Tuna has no DPF but rather just 1 Catalytic Converter, but that would have been removed when SAC fitted their excuse for a free flow. I'm back now from getting an expensive tan and can now assist with getting the old tech Unichip removed and moving fearless tuning into the 21st century
