more Torque, Power and Force

#1

Post by Apocalypse »

Another handy spread sheet for those who seem to struggle with the concepts.

Max Torque and Max Power are RARELY made at the same rpm - the Max Torque a motor makes at a certain rpm does not influence the max power at a different rpm!

You also don't need to worry about how much torque or power a motor makes to perform a task, you need to worry about force on the wheels after going through a set of reductions (gear ratios)

This doesn't take into account power train losses etc.

Obviously (I hope) put values in the yellow boxes to get the results out...

here is a completed example using my JK Rubicon with 35s - obviously, you only change the yellow areas to get the results out...

also bear in mind that an Auto has a torque convertor which is effectively another multiplier until it locks up .

and for comparison, this is an FJ Cruiser sitting on 33s from what I can tell in terms of ratios etc:

Thanks Alex.

Here are the calculations for THOR - first with stock 30.6 inch tyres and then with 33s
