I tried using CO2, as in Sodastream (Similar to paintball cylinders, just a different thread and proprietary refill mechanism)
1. It's super expensive (R80+ per refill)
2. 1 cylinder could reinflate 2 215/80R15 tyres from 0.8 to 1.5 bar
3. The valve freezes quite quickly using CO2 (limiting flow)

The only thing it was really good for was rebeading a tyre, which it did exceptionally well.
Thought the paintball cylinders were somewhat larger capacity than the Sodastream cylinders.
You get different sizes of paint ball cylinders. So yes you can get larger capacity cylinders. It is somewhat annoying trying to do the calculations of how much "air" you will get out of the cylinders because Sodastream measure their cylinders in how many litres of cooldrink you can carbonate, and paintball cylinders have imperial measurements, and they are not all the same, some are measured in ounces and some have cubic inches and pressure in psi.

Note that threads are different on the small and large sodastream cylinders and paintball cylinders.

“ Typical fridge compressors are 100 - 300 watt units, deliver 0.7 - 1 CFM of air and can reach pressures over 500 psi... “

500psi is about 35bar

... but I guess running it through an inverter
and using bigger cylinder would take far too long etc ?

A fairly common mod is to create an onboard air system using an aircon compressor.

If you take a dive cylinder along for a 4x4 trip in your vehicle make sure it is securely mounted. You don't want to have that little bomb rupture in your vehicle. 200 bar in a cylinder is a lot of stored energy. During basic scuba training we were shown video footage of cylinders rupturing in cars. Not a pretty sight.

I strap it down on the battery. it makes pretty sparks when I go over a bump! IS that okay?

Apoc I used to make aluminium scuba tank holders when I was still diving. Simply and sturdy design that worked very well. The stuff I saw guys doing with their dive cylinders weren't far off from your comment. Scary shyte.

Don't use straps. Rather sit on it like a real man
