That was to be expected somewhat

As far as I know, they are two different engines. The volksie does not have the same engine as the frod
81.0 by 95.5 millimetres bore and stroke for the Dub
and 84.01 x 90.03 for the blue badged one

It makes sense that a 3.2 tows better than a 2.0. But it appears that the days of anything over 3.0 diesel are numbered.

Why would it make sense Neil? The figures point to a different outcome to be had..
I think its more the fact that the gearbox had less ratios to think about, and this gave the engine time to build boost? My theory no 1
The other is that the smaller engine cannot generate the same plane of torque (more peaky) and this might then cause gearbox confusion.
Dunno, I would love to try them both back to back with my Commander in tow

I only read the article quickly. I thought it said that the 3.2 tows better? Less fuel?

Even with my smaller diesel motor I see a massive increase in consumption under load, whereas larger cc diesels are less susceptible to higher consumption because they don’t have to work as hard.

No Andrewvandustbinhog, I'm perfectly fine.
I don't own a Ranger.

I loved towing with my Ranger when I still had it. That 3.2 liter is a gem

A gem until it blows a turbo, Mike. I have heard of plenty going wrong under 50,000km.

Dump the EGR
Dump the CAT
Open the exhaust
Add a proper fuel filter
And then you have a gem.

Ford will sodomize you if you do this. Nevermind getting the computers to not throw a hissy fit.
