1HD-FTE OR D4D?

I have been considering an upgrade on my 1HZ in my Troopy for quite some time now...
Ever since I read about Henris' around 2013.
So I have decided that next year is the perfect time for this excercise.
I contacted N1 4X4 and they do a D4D conversion.
Not quite what I had in mind but certainly another option.
So which way would you go and why?
1HD-FTE gives around 120kw iirc.
D4D they recon 140+kw.
My gut says 1HDT or 1 HD-FTE but I honestly don't know enough to make an informed decision.
Any comments would be appreciated.

Yes, that's fine.

You will never be able to duplicate the torque characteristics from a 1HD-FT with a D4D. I have read the article on the D4D N1 4X4 did it needs that low down grunt.
Only down side of the 1HD-FT is that they become scarce and expensive these days.

Sal in toekoms eerder 35`s opsit.

Ek soek n vervanging vir my vrou vir n 4x4 dc.
Nuwe navara is n def no no.

Rudi, the Sheep Shaggers were calling for a 6 speed box in the V8 D-4D Cruiser (as were we).
Finally, Toyota Australia launched a revised box, 2nd gear & 5th were adjusted.
But no 6th cog. iirc the revs dropped to 2400rpm @120.
Afaik those changes have still not come to SA...

That is why Klasie and Jan are converting so many of those boxes.

Read this...
https://performancedrive.com.au/2017-to ... ideo-1417/
"For the 2017 model Toyota Australia has made some crucial changes to the big beast. Devised in conjunction with over 100,000km in local testing, it has updated the industrial-strength 4.5-litre turbo-diesel V8, extended second and fifth gear ratios, and improved safety for the single-cab ute version."
The important bit...
"The second major powertrain upgrade is the extension of second and fifth gear ratios for the five-speed manual (no auto option available). Second gear is almost seven per cent taller, at 2.294:1, capable of nudging 70km/h. From our test drive we were able to see a huge benefit from this. First gear is still very short, at 4.529:1, so it can be tiring in stop-start traffic conditions, but at least now second gear will take you up to traffic speeds whereas before you’d have to change up to third. Third and fourth gear remain the same (1.490:1 and 1.000:1). As for fifth gear, it’s almost 15 per cent taller than before, at 0:750:1, and this helps out massively on the highway.
The engine now requires a more relaxed 2000rpm to maintain 100km/h, compared with 2500rpm in the old setup. The front and rear diff ratios remain unchanged, at 3.90:1."
That's 2400rpm at 120km/h, down from the 2700rpm Crips mentioned above...

For about 2 months already the H152 gearbox has been in SA. Most dealers are ignorant to the fact even. I have one and have had a few coming through my shop to be modded.
I run 35's from new (drove from dealer to shop 5 blocks away) so not too sure what the rpm is. I go off of what the clients tell me with standard small tires.

Interesting - there was no announcement by Toyota SA...
