Many people will have heard of or use the Little Black Box and Mad Man monitoring systems that work independently of a vehicles standard monitoring systems and outside of ECU system: OBD readers etc
I recently noted on the a LR workshop site that they can install this new system: 4*4Mon . It has quite a few additional capabilities to my EMS 2 Mad Man ... in particular I like the idea of the Turbo Boost monitoring , Transmission Oil temps etc and versatile relay ports.
It also seems to have good display units.
What do you guys think ?
What are the essential heartbeats to monitor
on a 4*4 ?
What sensors are realy needed
and Whats the best system to get ?

For comparison , looking across at the Mad Man Developments site they too are now bringing out EMS3 :

.....
and heres a link to Little Black Box system which I know very little about ;

You only need to monitor lesser or modded vehicles.

I buy quality & don't fiddle...

Reenen hoe lank hou die verskillende temp gauges?

Ek het net die egt gauge (Madman) in my bakkie gesit want die mening was dat die water en olie temp sensors nie lank hou nie?

Manny is probably right. Christo Boegman (Bogeyman on the patrol forum) has a saying. I'm sure Manny will adopt it: "Fiddle, fiddle... f*cked"

But since many do fiddle (myself included), it's probably prudent to put something in place to monitor critical limitations. I've installed two different kinds. I prefer the Madman units coupled with VDO senders.

I'm a glutton for punishment!

Where's the fun in driving a vehicle that is standard and reliable Image
