Very noisy brakes on steep down hill

#1

Post by Mal Hannes »

OK so took the kids to De Wildt and had real fun in the Evoque with my daughter driving the Hilux and doing the obstacles I could not.

So I took the Hilux up the stony hill forget it's name. (Gert se klip)

Hilux went up without a hitch but coming down it was very noisy.

Brakes made a terrible noise. On normal driving it was quiet and behaved normally.

I hope I can upload the video to get your comments on the noise.

Please excuse my daughters comments.

OK I have no idea how to upload video here.

Is there anybody I can Whattsapp the video to, that can help me?

In listening again maybe it was something else than brakes.

SOUNDS like CV joints of my old Alfa.

Yes but I still need to work for a month or so while waiting for Amarok.

I thought this was the brains of the 4x4 world and now I can't get advice because I can't post a video.

without the video we can find out nothing!

IT's probably a small stone that got flipped into the brake disc / pad area...

Sounds like a harsher version of the Jeep-groan.

I do apologise.

I clicked on it, but when it opened, I thought it was the garden service getting out of my driveway.

yes, I'd agree with Thys - slightly worn rubbers causing a vibration/shudder under high load / low speed braking.

wouldn't worry about it.

OK thank you!

Then I can go again!

I must say I enjoyed the Evoque on the soft obstacles.

I wonder if Landrover had to bring our an Evoque with higher ground clearance and more flex. The short wheelbase makes it fun it just runs out of ground clearance.

The short overhang in front and back gives you great angles.
