Disco TDV6 Crank

Post by Oppies3800 »

Does anyone know why the cranks are snapping?

Some place calls it a myth, but you see it more and more.

Now the D4 are also snapping.

Can't these people who can afford these expensive vehicles afford proper maintenance?
Could this be sarcasm?

Why is Ford working on fixing something that doesn't really happen?

We all know the stories are all fabricated to bring the resale values on them down, right?
Could this be sarcasm?

Ford can't fix a burning Kuga. How the hell will they fix a snapping crank?

Go look on another forum, the gurus have blamed every thing and anything.

LR made a statement after looking at the problem, but apparently metallurgists, engineers and the guys that fix them don't know squat.

I still stick to the it is most likely due to lack of maintenance and or additives. There was a poll and most of the guys that had failures either maintained their own cars, or used additives

Go figure

Lets blame sun spots :D

Some defect cranks.

Mine - 30K+ km without checking anything (oil, water etc after my sons accident) and then messing around with additives, to see if they had any effect I'm not surprised mine went :( but I rebuilt or replaced every thing that was or may have been suspect.

This doesn’t sound like a statement from LR

They used the word "suspect", but its the same thing.

If you look at the number broken cranks with people doing DIY servicing, and using additives, and bad service intervals, it is over 65% the last time I bothered to analyze the data available on line. That's why LR put mileage and age limits for assisted repairs.
If I mentioned names, you would recognize some of them
