So which rim would you prefer on your 4x4?

Pointless exercise in destruction in my opinion. Bugger all real life scenario that I can think of that it mirrors.

I disagree. Its good to know the pressure tolerances between the two and how they react differently under pressure.
It can easily be applied to real life scenarios.
For instance, you will get a good idea what will happen to your rim if you drive at 80kph with a two ton vehicle and hit a deep pothole etc.
The video demonstrates the structural integrity between the two when pressure is applied.
The only issue I have (with their methodology) is that pressure is applied slowly but surely.

I do not have a issue with the looks, the weight is more of a concern, when i went to steelies on my Jimny it killed it instantly. but with 40Wkw it is to be expected

The problem really is that you get different strength alloy wheels and steel wheels.
A steel rim as fitted to a citigolf will buckle in the presence of a 'morning after a heavy curry and 3 bottles of red wine' fart.
The steel rim fitted to a 100ton tipper truck is made of much sterner stuff.
Same goes for Alloys, there are different alloys as well as different wheel designs. Again, a rim fitted to an F1 car isn't the most robust alloy structure in the world, but they also make Alloy Rims for prime mover trucks.
so the video doesn't really tell the story unfortunately...

Well said Alex. I have also found that certain "alloy" rims are actually heavier than similar sized steel rims and have only aesthetic value.

These are the rims that are on my LC 200. They are steel. I don’t think they are bad looking...
