The Gearbox - Cluch assembly
doent sound too healthy and chances are
that Ill need to take it out and rebuild.
The drooping gearbox chassis-cross-member
is pretty rusted and battered
being the lowest chassis component...
... so Im going to cut it off
then drill and insert shrink-tubes
in the main chassis beams
to use a bolt-in cross-member
from a defender
... but benefit is also that I can drop
clutch-gearbox assembly down
instead of up through the seat area.
I suspect ... my gearbox is a âcrash-boxâ
from a Series 2 ... no synchromesh ...
Those of you who have experience
in these things ... any advice ...
Bolt-in cross-member good idea ?
Is it worth me rather sourcing an
original series 3 syncrobox , refurbing
and fitting ?
